BrandedLogoDesigns SCAM: Deutsche Post will now collect funds for mailboxes

On Ash Wednesday, everything is over - this also applies to hundreds of thousands of free mailboxes in Germany. As of March, Deutsche Post will charge a fee from all users. This is due to higher costs and declining mail volumes.
Anyone who takes his letters from a mailbox in the future must pay for them. From 1 March, Deutsche Post will collect a fee of EUR 19.90 per year from private customers and professionals for the use of such a mailbox. Up to now, customers only have to pay a single payment of 15 euros for the facility. Swiss Post had already notified the changes at the beginning of the year.
A company spokesman pointed out that paid mailboxes are so unusual. For example, users would have to pay 12 DM per year for a mailbox. Later the fee was canceled.Increased costs

The post justified the step of reintroducing a price, among other things with increased costs for real estate, the maintenance and maintenance of mailboxes and higher electricity costs. New customers have had to pay for their letters themselves in a post office since July last year.

At the moment, Swiss Post has a total of 818,000 mailboxes nationwide. The overwhelming majority of users are traders, the spokesman stressed. The introduction of a mailbox rental results in a supplementary revenue of approximately 16 million euros per year for Swiss Post.

Mail volume of the mail decreases

The use of mailboxes has also declined in recent years, according to the company. The speaker did not mention a number. Every fifth letter is currently to be posted in a mailbox.

In the meantime, Swiss Post's mail volume decreases annually by an average of two to three percent. The reason for this is the spread of digital competition such as SMS, e-mail and numerous messenger services around Facebook, Whatsapp and Co. Also the post has developed digital offers, such as the e-mail or the own messenger service SIMSme.
